Deep Keep

Free deterministic tactical roguelite — frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions

Everything new players ask about Deep Keep — the free, no-RNG tactical roguelite you play in your browser.

What is Deep Keep?
Deep Keep is a free, browser-based deterministic tactical roguelite game. Every number is shown before you commit a move, so each fight is a full-information puzzle, not a gamble. You spend a scarce build budget across four approaches — Force, Finesse, Wits and Charm — and descend a branching keep that escalates until it outpaces your fixed power. The game guide covers every mechanic and enemy.
How do I play Deep Keep?
Open playdeepkeep.com, spend your scarce build budget across the four approaches (or pick a preset), then descend. At each fork the game shows you the foe's archetype and its weakness; read the menace and the foe's telegraphed intent, then answer with the right tool each turn. Survive a run to unlock new options, then descend again, harder.
Is Deep Keep free to play?
Yes. Deep Keep is free and runs in your web browser — no download, no install, and no account. The game itself runs locally in your browser; a small server backs only the optional global leaderboard and cross-device sync.
Does Deep Keep use RNG or random combat?
No. Deep Keep is a deterministic, full-information tactical roguelite: every number is shown before you commit, so combat is a puzzle, not a gamble. The keep is procedurally generated and each turn carries a small swing — but that swing is rolled up front and displayed, so you never lose to a hidden dice roll.
What are the four stats in Deep Keep?
Force, Finesse, Wits and Charm — each is a key that opens a solution closed to other builds. You spend a small, fixed build budget across them; you cannot be good at everything, and specialising opens doors a generalist never sees. See the game guide for exactly what each one does.
What games is Deep Keep like?
Fans of full-information, no-RNG tactics like Into the Breach, and of turn-based tactical roguelites and deckbuilders like Slay the Spire. Deep Keep trades grid positioning for a build-and-read-the-room puzzle.
Do I need to download or install Deep Keep?
No. It is a browser game — it loads instantly on desktop or mobile, works offline as an installable PWA, and needs only a modern browser.
Does Deep Keep track me or store my data?
Deep Keep has no accounts and asks for no personal data, and your progress is saved on your own device. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous, aggregate usage measurement — cookieless, no fingerprinting, no personal data. It also records anonymous gameplay events (which builds and tools players pick, and how runs end) to balance the game — no names, no personal data, and no identifier that links them across runs; nothing is sent if your browser signals Do Not Track. The optional global leaderboard and cross-device sync are backed by a small server and identified by an anonymous code you keep — no email, no sign-up.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email hello@playdeepkeep.com with bug reports, feature ideas, or any other feedback — it's always welcome.
